In all of my time spent on sites such as these, one feature greatly eases the confusion of characters: the character directory. Obviously this is just a suggestion. c:
What is it and why is this something to consider?
A character directory is an organized board with subboards that easily file and keep character profiles organized. It is an easy place to look up the attributes of characters such as history, physical features, and personality. Character profiles can also contain links to past and present roleplays so that they are easy to find, and are also a great place to store artwork or photography of said character.
Another great thing about this setup is that it keeps roleplays clean, characters organized, and it alleviates the hassle of always reposting your character's info.
How is it set up?
Posting in the main directory is what you will do to enter your character for acceptance. An acceptance runthrough is ideal for making sure that all characters meet specifications for the site and also prevents many in-roleplay mistakes such as having wings, the ability to breathe fire, or any other non-natural or non-acceptable trait.
The subboards of this board should be done in a manner that is easy to keep running. Through my experience, the best way to do this is to create one subboard for each of these items: Accepted profiles, rejected or WIP profiles, and the Character Listing.
The character listing is a very important part of this system. It gives links to every character based on the first letter of their name, and threads within this subboard are organized in alphabetical order.
Seems like a lot of work. Who would be willing to organize it?
Obviously anyone could organize this with permission, however I am completely willing and even eager to undertake this project myself.
